Everything I Know About How to Write, by Sylvia Bailey

start

keep writing

don't judge it

don't wait for the right pen

don't wait for the right notebook

don't wait for the right chair

don't wait for the right time of day

don't wait for the right mood

don't wait for inspiration

don't worry if you think it sucks

don't worry if you think it's brilliant

sit down

keep writing

when you hear people say how difficult it is to write, don't think that means you must be doing it wrong

keep writing

don't compare your writing to anyone else's

if you know before hand what you plan to write, don't  write it

if it feels scary, keep writing

never worry about what anyone else thinks about your writing — hardly anyone does

especially, never worry about what you think about your writing

start again

keep writing
